The Firefighter Rescue Network currently working to equip and train the Mobile Rescue Center (MRC) of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in support of their rescue teams working at building collapses.
Russian military strikes have damaged or destroyed an estimated 38,000 residential buildings, 1,900 educational facilities (kindergartens, grade schools, and universities), 500 factories, and 500 hospitals, often leaving victims trapped in the rubble.
The Mobile Rescue Center is the Ukrainian team specially trained to rescue victims of building collapses and was certified in 2014 (and recertified in 2019) at the highest level as a Heavy Urban Search and
Rescue (USAR) team by the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG), the United Nations body charged with oversight of the international USAR teams.
With over 100 trained rescuers, the MRC is a critical resource of expertise but simply does not have all of the necessary equipment to deal with the overwhelming number of building collapses. The Firefighter
Rescue Network is committed to supplying as much high-end equipment as possible to leverage its expertise and increase its effectiveness. Equipment supplied to date includes search cameras to locate trapped victims, satellite phones to enhance communications, and support supplies for search dog teams.

The Mobile Rescue Center has a world-class training facility devoted to maintaining its rescue skills. It includes areas to practice building collapse searches, stabilizing damaged buildings, high angle rescue, vehicle extractions, railway emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, and search dog training. This dedication to service has been ongoing since the formation of the Mobile Rescue Center.
